Barbara Kohmanns
Barbara is a german and I met her at a
spanish course in Málaga, Spain, in february 2001. She learned spanish
because she planned to go to Southamerica to ride. I thought it sounded
fantastic. Now, two and a half years later, I am suddenly in Latinamerica
and riding together with her. Here is Barbaras description of herself:
Our nature is movement,
complete standstill is death." (Pascal, Pensées)
My parents celebrated my birth on 21 September 1963 in Augsburg. Very
shortly thereafter we moved to Weißenhorn, a small village near Ulm. After
high school I decided to move to Wuerzburg to study biology. During my time
at University I used every opportunity to live abroad. In 1987 I had the
opportunity to study biology in the US. I moved to Austin, Texas and lived
there for one year. Back in Europe I completed my studies in Wuerzburg and
in Basel.
I developed a passion for long journeys, which allow one to take time to
appreciate the landscape and people. They also offer the chance to stay in
the same place for a while. So I travelled several months through Mexico, the
Western USA, then New Zealand, Kenya, Nepal and India.
